About this event
Transformance: Face of Self II is part of a series of three performance film projects that Ariel started in 2021 that weaves transformational shifts through public ritual, emoting of emotions and raw dance.
The immersive journey of the evening will begin with an opening meditation and Qi-gong warm followed by our exploration of our internal rhythms through biodance and ecstatic dance, deepening our connection with our body and life force energy. This workshop celebrates the themes in the presenting film and honors movement as medicine.
We break for refreshments as we transition into featuring the performance short film, Transformance: Face of Self II, by Ariel Cavalcante Foster, followed by an artist talk moderated by filmmaker and natural goods maker, Stephanie Wallance.

About the Project
Transformance: Face of Self II is one the lastest projects Ariel produced, performed, edited and scored the original music in Brazil during their extensive research and study residency. Transformance was supported by an essential collaborator, Gustavo Luizon, who is the Director of Photography and a collaborator of the music score with guitar. Transformance was filmed at Casadalapa, an urban artist collective in Sao Paulo. Ariel was a collective member there during her residency up until its closure at the end of 2022. Casadalapa was founded by Sato in 2000, a photographer that captures social and human rights movements, indigenous struggles, cultural events and is a major collaborator in many collectives and movements. Casadalapa was a cultural hub for artists to exhibit work, create and collaborate on projects of all forms.
